The Annual Conference of the Strategic Management Society (SMS) in Prague this year was an exceptional opportunity to present and discuss own research and to inform oneself about the recent developments in the field of strategic management. With attendees from over 49 different countries, the meeting was truly international and a very good opportunity to meet new people and old friends.
Over 800 presenters discussed their work. For me as a PhD student, this conference was extremely valuable and useful. I received helpful and constructive feedback for my own presentation and research on which I can improve my work. At the same time, I met other academics with whom I discussed my research and also gained valuable insights in theirs. Enlarging my network and presenting my work are the most important ingredients for a conference. Both aspects were satisfied at the SMS. I even made contact with people with whom I may start a project in the future.
The social program of the conference was worth participating, too. The conference dinner took place in the beautiful castle of Prague which we enjoyed while listening to a Jazz Combo. After dinner, we went to an organ concert in the cathedral next to the castle. Prague as venue did not disappoint me, either. Nice restaurants and bars in the city center were very inviting and a trip through the town after the conference was really worth my time.
Summing up, I would recommend every scholar in the strategic management field to participate in the SMS.
